The Weir Strat
In 2009, Bobby Weir and I began discussing ideas for his next guitar. Inspired by the classic style of Buddy Holly’s Stratocaster from the 1950s, we decided to create a modern take on that iconic instrument. The result was the first Bobby Weir Strat, completed in 2010. This Strat went on to be played by Bobby in all five of the historic Fare Thee Well concerts in 2015.
DETAILS
Neck:
- Finger board, Hundred year old Brazilian Rosewood
- 25 1/2” scale
- Graphite plate underneath the finger board, for stiffness and even volume of notes
- Rock Maple core with double acting truss rod
- 1/8th inch brass plate on back of peg head for sustaining notes

- Two- piece swamp ash
- Two-tone sunburst
- Nitrocellulose paint
